Instructional Materials

Flagler Schools’ K–12 curriculum is composed of a wide range of textbooks and other instructional materials. Each school year the district adopts a new curriculum in one major subject area according to the state of Florida's instructional materials adoption cycle. The instructional material adoption process includes opportunities for the public to review materials, provide feedback, and submit requests for the reconsideration of adopted materials.

Challenge to Non-Adopted Instructional Materials

Parents of a student or residents of the county may challenge instructional materials used in classrooms, school library books, or books on reading lists. Challenged materials must meet the following criteria:

Materials that were not subject to the review process during an adoption year including a public notice of a hearing, review, and comment procedures (F.S. 1006.28)

We suggest that prior to submitting a challenge, you schedule a meeting with the principal of the school to gain an understanding of how the material is being used. Please complete the Request for Reconsideration of Materials form to submit a challenge.

State-Approved Reproductive Health Resources

Parents of students enrolled in courses that teach reproductive health may request to view the state-approved instructional resources by clicking on the link. Parent Request for State-Approved Reproductive Health Resources.

Parents may also review any of the materials being used for these lessons by contacting the District office at (386) 437-7526 to make an appointment to review the content at the General Service Building ,1796 East Moody Blvd, Building 2, Floor 3, Bunnell, FL 32110.

2025-2026 Instructional Materials for THE ARTS, CTE, PE and Health, and World Languages, K-12

The Florida Department of Education (FLDOB) adopts course instructional materials for each subject area and school year. More information on state requirements and procedures for instructional materials can be found on the Florida Department of Education website.

This year’s Instructional Materials adoption public review begins on June 23, 2026, and will extend through January 2027.

Materials will be available for review in the Teaching & Learning Office (1769 East Moody Blvd., Building 2, Floor 3, Bunnell, Florida 32110). Materials may be reviewed in the office from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Sign-in sheets and rubrics will be available.
